Community accounting, management and research services
Message from our Executive Director
"Welcome to Morham Consulting. I hope you find some useful information here on our website. Here is a little information about myself and the organisation, by way of an introduction.
I have combined over 30 years business management experience with teaching and research, specialising in the charity and not-for-profit sector. Over these years I have been privileged to work with many charitable organisations, from small grassroots unincorporated groups to large multinational charitable companies. In many cases I have managed the finance and governance of the organisation and in my public practice work I have acted as auditor, independent examiner and adviser. I have also had the pleasure of working as a volunteer in the role of trustee and treasurer to some inspiring charities.
We have a wonderfully diverse and vibrant third sector here in Scotland united by a commitment to a cause and a passion to make things better. I formed Morham Consulting as a social enterprise in January 2016 with an aim to support charities and not-for-profit organisations in East Lothian. I am very aware that the budget for most charities is very limited and any funds available are needed to provide direct services. This is particularly true for small, grassroots and emerging organisations and their ability to access professional services is severely limited by this lack of funding.
Morham Consulting was formed as a not-for-profit social enterprise to fill this need. We provide high quality services at a low cost – our aim being to help you reach your goals as efficiently and effectively as possible. Over the last few years we have worked with many local charities and now support organisations across Edinburgh and the Lothians. We look forward to many more years as community accountants and management advisers, making a positive impact in our local communities."
At Morham Consulting we believe in: -
Equality of opportunity - by enabling small grassroots organisations and those from disadvantaged or socially excluded communities to access high quality accountancy and business management services
Building skills and enabling communities - by demystifying finance and governance issues and providing clear advice and education opportunities
Empowering communities by providing support to help organisations grow
Being locally managed and based - to reflect local needs and improve the availability of services to all community groups
